Last week during a NFL playoff game between the 49ers vs the Saints the game came down to Alexis Smith of the 49ers throwing a winning touchdown to Vernon Davis the tight end. This touchdown meant so much for Vernon Davis because of the adversity that they faced during the year and overcoming the odds after past two seasons. So, when he caught that pass in the end zone all emotion hit him and he cried.

While watching this game my cousin’s Danielle friend Nola said that this was an “unacceptable man cry”. My cousin disagreed and came up with a list of acceptable public man crying moment. Which were:

1.) Death- when someone passes away you have a pass to grieve

2.) Anything Dealing w/ your children- when there are major moments in your childs life that marks a milestone is an understandable moment

3.) A major accomplishment- Like a Vern Davis, Michael Jordan winning his 1st Championship and Will Smith getting that job at the end of Pursuit of Happyness

This is the year of 2012 what are you going to do with your time, it’s time to make moves? Are you willing to make steps towards a better you? I would say sit down and complete an overview of last year. What have you accomplished, worked on or working towards during the year of 2011. How are you going to move forward in 2012 in these 5 ways?

Financially- one can save more money this year by putting away $20.00 bi-weekly you will have $520.00 by the end of the year.

Spiritually- your relationship with God; I will talk to God in prayer so my life will be manageable and in order.

Emotionally- to work on being in charge of my feelings and not react to everything put things in perspective and I will have to pause and think.

Physically- to look good, feel good, and love the only body I will every have, exercise, eat right and put good things in my body.

Mentally- think clearly and when you feel that time of unraveling staying to long seek professional help, no one has to know. Counseling will give you a mental tune-up to face life and see things in a better way. Beware of the curbside counseling or just talking to anyone. Be mentally free!!

Make moves this year towards a better you. It Time To Move, to everything there is a time and season.

Al Hardy

While, owning a business in my early 20’s was a wonderful experience. The birth of my children was and is one of the greatest moments in history for me. However, with that being said there was something missing within the core essence of me being a Hardy Man. My father is a strong pillar and example of what a man is supposed to be, didn’t just give me lectures but he lived the lecture out. He finished college and obtained his CPA. He became a minister of the gospel at a young age and even until this day exercises his integrity in private as well as in public. He is also a husband of my beautiful mother Dr. Cheryl Hardy and can quote to the minute how long they’ve been married.

              As for me I had a business but couldn’t heed the demands. I had a marriage but couldn’t communicate well enough to connect, had children but felt enable to nurture. Then one day while Dr. David Ireland was speaking about education and the value of it. Something from within nudged me to go back and register for school. I had a week to register but everything came through and was going back. I had 20 credits left, but after talking to my advisor we worked it out that all I had to take was 12 credits; meaning less money, especially during this recession. Not even knowing that my job was going to lay me off later that year. Nevertheless, that caused me to focus even more. And yes I finished with Bachelor’s in Business Administration!I

It was necessary that I walked. Not just for me but for my 3 sons and daughter. I wanted them to see me bounce back from adversity, complete what I started, so they can put a premium on education. They can value finishing what they start and recognize the hardwork put into studying and practicing to complete a goal. More than anything I pray they can enjoy the moment and opportunity life brings them that challenges their gifts and sharpens the weak dull areas of their core fibers because after they walk through a test they will have enough strength to stand.

I’m surprise y’all haven’t told me about this now I’m on it!

Just wanted to put together a sample of some of the parks we went to this year. Enjoy!

Going back to school at 39  was not an easy task, but I had one main goal and that was to finish what I had started 20 years ago.  At the age of 19 I had a son which put my college plans on hold, I was attending Virginia State University and had to leave school in order to help raise my son, I knew the importance of doing that because my father had not been present in my life and I refused to let that happen to my son! So I came home and got a job and became a dad.  I had an uncle who played a major role in my life who kept stressing the importance of education so at the at of 25 I went to the Community College and got and Associates Degree, and at the same time my career in business started taking off so I decided to put my education on hold again thinking that money was the key and not education but that is so not true!!!!! My uncle use to tell me they can take all your money but the can never take that Degree and boy did I learn that the hard way, because in May 2007 the market collapsed  and left me in a financial hole big time and those words rang back about the importance of education. As a result in May of 2009 I enrolled into Seton Hall University and set a goal to finish my Degree before I turned 41 and thats what  I did,  taking 18 credits a semester;  late night and early mornings I completed 62 hours of coarse work in 2 years finishing with a 3.0 GPA! Oh and it was no mistake that I went to Virginia State University because that’s where I met my wife, but we didn’t find out until 20 years later that we would be married! We tied the knot on June  25th 2011 on and graduating on May 16th 2011 the month before my 41st birthday.  Don’t ever let anyone tell you that education is not important, because it is and also don’t forget to set goals for yourself even if they seem impossible, because with God all things are possible!!!!!!!!!!!
